Remember, discussions are for extra credit. The blog assignment is for a grade!!
If you were to stand in front of a school on the first day of kindergarden or first grade you would see kids running up to the doors. They would probably be jumping up and down and yelling their heads off. They are excited about going to school. They are excited about learning to read and write.
Somewhere along the way, learning seems to lose its fun. If you stand in front of a middle school or high school on the first day, students are trudging up the walkway frowning. What happens? Why is learning no longer fun? Why don’t we want to learn just for the sake of learning?
Please share your thoughts!! ![]()
This is the first blog assignment that is for a grade. Please remember the requirements for posting so that you can receive credit.

Many of you have stopped by here and posted on our blog. I am enjoying reading all of the comments. Thus far, commenting on our blog has been for extra credit. We are going to take it a step further. Students will be given a time slot to go back to the computer and answer a blog assignment. Each day three people will be assigned to the computers at the beginning of class while the other students are working on their journals. Due to the number of students, we will have a two week rotation. You will be excused from doing the journal question on the day that you are assigned to the computer. Yes, you must answer the blog. Yes, it counts for a grade.
Requirements: Your response must be at least five sentences long. You MUST use correct grammar and punctuation. That means you capitalize what needs to be capitalized, you put periods where there needs to be periods, you do not use abbreviations, etc. Credit will not be given if proper grammar is not used. Remember our Discussion #1…we aren’t using text or IMing language here.
Computer assignments will begin the week of October 8th. You may only get on the computer during the blog time on your assigned day.
